Abstract

Tuberculosis (TB) remains a significant public health problem in Indonesia, including Solok City. Low levels of active case detection result in many cases remaining undiagnosed and potentially transmitting the disease within households. This community service program aimed to improve early TB detection through door-to-door screening (knocking door method), enabling health workers to directly reach at-risk households. The program involved household data collection, symptom-based interviews using standardized instruments, identification of household contact history, assessment of environmental risk factors, and sputum collection from suspected individuals. The activity was conducted in Koto Panjang Village, Solok City, in collaboration with the community health center, health cadres, and students. The results showed that 209 households were successfully screened and 32 sputum samples were examined at the health center laboratory. One positive pulmonary TB case was identified and promptly referred for treatment, while 31 suspected cases were referred for further diagnostic examination. In conclusion, the door-to-door screening approach effectively increased early TB detection coverage and enhanced community awareness and education regarding TB prevention.
