Abstract
Based on the Profile of the Padang City Health Office in 2021, it was found that there were 4,114 cases of diarrhea, of which there were 304 cases of diarrhea in the working area of the Andalas Public Health Center in 2022. Observations at Elementary School Students 22 Andalas found that students generally consumed food that was not clean enough, and did not want to wash their hands. The purpose of this study was to determine differences in knowledge and attitudes of grade 3, 4 and 5 students towards diarrheal disease through video educational media at Elementary School Students 22 Andalas, Padang Timur District, Padang City.
The type of research used is quantitative research with a quasi-experimental design with one group pretest and posttest approaches. This research was conducted in May 2023. The population for this study was students of Elementary School Students 22 Andalas grades 3, 4 and 5, totaling 71 students. The sample was taken used a total sampling technique. Data were collected used questionnaires and videos, and analyzed with univariate and bivariate use the Wilcoxon test.
The results showed that the average value of knowledge before the intervention was 13.52 and after the intervention used video media was 16.75 (p-value = 0.004). As for the difference in the average value of attitudes before the intervention was 56.25 and after the intervention using video media was 67.62 (p-value = 0.001).
The conclusion of this study is that there are differences in knowledge and attitudes about diarrhea used video media in grades 3, 4 and 5 of Elementary School Students 22 Andalas. It is recommended for schools to allocate time in providing further education about diarrhea to students so that students can behave clean and healthy.
